About Hairy Hounds in Hackney
Hairy Hounds in Hackney is a Doggie Daycare and Training Centre situated on Homerton High Street, London.
We provide doggie daycare, dog walking, obedience training and 1:1 training for dogs of local residents who care about the mental and physical wellbeing and development of their dog(s).
Whether you need someone to walk your dog while you are away for the weekend, on holiday, or if you'll be working during the day, rest assured that your hairy hound will receive the very best attention and care in your absence, so that you can go about your day without feelings of guilt or worry.
Hairy Hounds in Hackney, also known as HHH, was founded in 2012 by Edita Sykora.
Meet the team
EDITA
Edita has over 30 years experience with training dogs, particularly more challenging dogs and bigger breeds like German- and Belgian- Shepherds, Boxers and Terriers.
With her first Boxer, Cezar, Edita acquired her Czech Kennel Club qualification in obedience, tracking, and protection.
Edita's greatest ambition is to educate local residents on responsible dog ownership and to demonstrate how even the most basic positive obedience training can drastically improve your dog's overall behaviour, and strengthen and transform the relationship between owner and dog.
Her favourite breeds are: Boxers, German Shepherds and lately she's been crushing on Bulldogs.
Edita is a qualified First Aider.
Rosie
From cat-walk to dog walk, Rosie is a professional model and doggy daycare assistant. She’s been with Hairy Hounds in Hackney for over a year and works most days of the week. Rosie loves cuddling up with pooches in front of the fire, as well as hanging out and playing with the dogs in the garden.
Many of our hounds are particularly infatuated with her. She seems to have an affinity with the greyhounds and lurchers in the pack.
Rochelle
Rochelle is an experienced and knowledgable dog trainer. Born and bred in Hackney she is a proud owner of a rescued Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Ellie.
Rochelle started working with Hairy Hounds four years ago and is part of our full-time team assisting with all training sessions. In addition to giving excellent doggy cuddles, Rochelle can give you some great training tips too!
Her favourite breeds are: Staffordshire Bull Terriers, Mastiffs, and she has fallen in love with all Vizlas and German Shorthaired Pointers that we’ve had in our care so far.
Josh
Our resident drama queen, Josh works as a cabaret and drag performer, as well as being a full-time dog lover.
A dog-owner since childhood, Josh loves cuddling up on the sofa with our daycare hounds as much as throwing a ball on dog walks.
He’s worked with Hairy Hounds in Hackney for almost one year and his training skills are coming along excellently. When away from the pack for long periods he gets doggy withdrawal and can’t wait to be back!
Kier
The “New Guy”. Kier joined us at the end of 2020 having spent the previous 9 months as a 1:1 dog walker; a far cry from his previous 20 years managing sales, customer service & call centre teams in the travel industry.
Kier has always had pets; dogs at home in his youth and cats in his “adult-life”… Kier never really agreeing to being an adult!!
Big guy. Big cuddler. Able to offer our big dogs all the affection they crave... but secretly a big softy that loves a Cocker Spaniel, Labrador & all of our Day Care Doggies just as much!! In fact, rumour has it that a little spaniel pup might just be joining his family.
MAjA
The newest addition to the HHH Team, Maja is keen and exceedingly quick to learn. What she lacks in experience she makes up for in enthusiasm and a keen empathy with our hounds.
Maja is particularly skilled at engaging with our puppies; familiarising them with the ways and whims of children.
Her favourite dogs are Gonzo and Ernie.
